Here is another case of pf’s discrimination policy hard at work. The crazy part about this is that corporate has all the owners and their employees drinking the same koolaid with this CRAP they dishing out. Well as I found out youget what you pay for. I have been a member for 3 months or so at Tampa Planet Fitness. Since i joined I have been working out 4-5 times per week at all different hours. Each time i have gone in with the exception of once I have worn Y- back tank tops, I went in last night and once at the desk I was told that I couldn’t workout with that ” TANK TOP”. I laughed and said your kidding me, He said NOOOHHHH. I aked him to show me in the contract i sighned where it said that. He proceeded to look through a file of papers, But could not produce the proof of his POLICY anywere. Then he pointed to the “SIGN” on the wall that states the DRESS CODE. I remind you again that the sign does not say that I can”t wear that type of shirt. I began to get very frustrated and called him a scrawny little worm, he then offered me a PF t shirt to work out in. That pissed me off even more it seemed like he was know ignoring my point of show me the policy. So after i calmly and discreetly looked him in the eye and called him a Dick he cancelled my membership. I called and lefta messege w/ the owner and have not gotten a call. I have spoken to the MANAGER who has coosen to stick by this nonexhistant policy and her Dick employee.

Richard (DICK) LEARN TO SPELL AND GET A LIFE YOU SISSY

  5. Elysa Says:

    How is that racist…?

  6. Rod Says:

I have to agree I workout at a planet fitness here locally and I have seen smaller guys dropping wieghts because they cant handle the wieght and nothing said, If that had been myself, who happens to be a bodybuilder, I would have been talked to and perhaps asked to leave. I normally wear a doo rag, I was asked not to. I observed just last week this heavier overweight guy wearing a doo rag, walked right by the owner and nothing was ever said to him.

    • Me Says:

Why would you even go there if your a body builder. They tell you it not that type of place. Still you go and bitch about your experience. What a douche.

  7. Anonymous Says:

I can see sandals as a safety issue but a doo rag or any style thing that doesn’t insult anyone is just wrong to prohibit. People should feel comfortable with any style they choose. Screw these nutjobs…

  8. Anonymous Says:

THIS IS NOT ANOTHER SITUATION JUST TO YELL RACISM. IT’S REAL AND IT’S OUT THERE. IF YOU WERE BLACK JEW MUSLIM ETC YOU WOULD FEEL REALLY DIFFERENT ABOUT IT. THE OF COURSE YOU WOULD SAY THAT BECAUSE IT DON’T HAPPEN TO YOU BUT ONCE YOU WALK IN OUR SHOES YOU CAN’T JUDGE HOW WE FEEL. AND IT IS RACIST. I WENT TO WORKOUT AT PF AND I WAS TOLD I CAN’T WEAR A SCARF. HELL IM A FEMALE. HOW CAN YOU WEAR BASEBALL CAPS AND NO SCARFS SERIOUSLY WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IT STILL SOMETHING OVER THE HEAD RACIST RACIST RACIST HA

  9. rodney Says:

Im. A member there also and. Find some of their rules are out in left field! You go to the gym to improve your body so yea you wanna see it at work just because. You wear a tank top doesn’t mean your Showing off, there’s. Alot of exercises that if you can see what. Your working you get better results cause you will push yourself harder!

  10. Anonymous Says:

no excuses – go, workout, get fit, quit whining – have a nice day : )

  11. NotUrbizz Says:

Why would you wanna go to the gym in a tank top, so you can get a booty call? It’s common sense you will not be able to get down or jump, run, without showing all you rack. There’s a lot of gyms that have dress codes. They cancel your membership you got what you wanted anyways. The employee is only following orders, why do we costumers discuss with them when they are not the owners?

    • doitgetitgetbig Says:

If you have lift before than you know that sleeves get in the way that’s why there are so many guys that cut the sleeves off their shirts. Its what we’re comfortable with. Tank tops are convenient in the gym

    • Clara Says:

Because you get hot and sweaty. Where else do you wear those running tanks/ muscle tanks??

  12. Anonymous Says:

Wanted to join, not sure I wear a scarf on bad hair days.

  13. Pj Says:

If you don’t like the rules go to a different gym. We won’t miss you.

  14. at Says:

I was wearing badanas just recently while i was doing my workout and I didn’t know about the dress code before I even apply the membership. They didn’t tell me at all untill they told me to take it off. I didn’t asked them the reason why. After workout, I went to check it up on internet and I read, “NO BANDANAS’ Allowed. I was like…wtf.. you kidding me? What does bandanas have to deal with judgement??? Is it concern about gang related? I’m sure it’s not gang relate perhaps, but there’s nothing wrong with it. Yet, planet fitness only allowed Absorbent Headbands not bananas, and hats. What’s the difference anyway… they’re the same if you can compare the difference of wearing a hat. Why judge?

I’m disappointed of badanas is on under dress code.

What I think about this place is a racism and discrimination. Also It’s really strick. Everyone have the right to wear anything as long as it’s deals with fitness. For an example: Just like compare other race that should’t belong here. Does it really matter? I mean we judge people how they look and how they wear and what race they are. Why under these dress code that is quite a nonsense that doesn’t belong here.

We judge everybody does it really matter? So pathetic!

  15. Anonymous Says:

Being that we live in a country that was founded on the backs and blood of black people, who were described as three fifths of a human being, only a fool will not open their eyes to see the hate around them in every day life…come walk a mile in my shoes

  16. Anonymous Says:

Aw, poor muscular guys getting picked on. Grow up.

  17. Anonymous Says:

For the most part, at least at the OF I belong to, I find members complaining (very lousy) about rules they already knew existed before they signed the contract…I know the type. These are those who don’t signal when turning or changing lanes. Cry when the police stop them for speeding. Go in a door that is clearly marked exit only…yeah the type that thinks nothing applies to them.

  18. Anonymous Says:

if you guys complaining could read past your own ideas you would have known about the dress policy. personally i dont care if you wear your y back and too small of a tank top, but dont complain when one out of all the employees tries to enforce a rule. just go to the rush where there are no such rules.

  19. Caspar McVeigh Says:

The woman in question isn’t in shape. She’s soft, not ripped. She doesn’t even have a six pack, but instead has a soft ab area.

Planet Fitness sounds racist! Not just discriminatory because a woman who’s signed up to get fit now appears by their so called rules to be unfit to show it.

    What planet are they from?
    Oh….

  20. LeAnn Says:

Having been a body builder, and female, with a large “rack” I can honestly say that A TANK TOP, even, and especially a t-back ACTUALLY IS BETTER FOR SHOULDER RANGE OF MOTION EXERCISES, It also DOES NOT EXPOSE YOUR “RACK,” NOR HINDER YOUR ABILITY TO “JUMP,RUN.” The sign leaves the “dress code” open to interpretation of who ever is working the desk at the time, which is ridiculous because one persons modesty is not the same as another’s, These sorts of rules actually remind me of military gyms and a bit of gyms in Muslim countries. REALLY? Yes, sleeves must be at least “short sleeves” and not fitted, there are no bike type shorts even under shorter loose shorts, even on men, no UDT Navy or Marine type nylon shorts etc. Well, let me school you non hard core people who are saying that anything fitted etc. should also not be worn. LOOSE CLOTHING can actually be MORE OF A SAFETY AND MODESTY issue. Getting on and off a machine with loose shirts or baggy shorts/pants means there is more material that may catch a part of the machine and baggy shorts or t-shirts were far more likely to ride up and expose parts I wanted to remain covered anytime I stretched, worked on a decline bench etc. if you don’t really know how to use REAL weights and machines, don’t.get pissy with people who are serious about their workouts and therefore wear gear that stays in place and while also, goodness, might be easier to ensure they have proper joint alignment while performing a specific exercise. Lastly, watch ANY TOP ATHLETE YOU WILL NOTICE, VERY FITTED CLOTHING, FOR A REASON. In addition to the above mentioned benefits in speed sports it reduces drag, and in ALL sports, even at rest for recuperation, compression aids in faster recoveries!

I prefer to see women in hot body suits, show me that gym an that is where I will join. Afterall, I join a gym for inspiration, if not then I would just work out in my living room with a wi-fit, x-box or P90x.

Someone needs to wake up, it is the hotties that will bring in the customers.

  22. Robin Feindt Says:

Sorry, I am with that guy. I just left pissed off, because I was told my shorts were to short.

  23. matt wade Says:

    you fit really sucks to

  24. matt wade Says:

I work out at the you fit gym in Port Charlotte, Fl and this gym totally sucks. The people that work out there are totally annoying. I am a serious bodybuilder and people just sit there and give me dirty looks, as if it is a crime to want to build your body up to its fullest potential.

  25. matt wade Says:

There is this fucking black guy that might weigh 160 lbs on a good day, that walks around the this gym like he is the fucking man. He has made it a point to constantly harass me to no end. He talks major shit behind my back. He calls me an old man even though I do not look a day over 28. He always hangs out with this big tall Hispanic guy.( I think for protection)

  26. matt wade Says:

This guy is a fucking piece of shit and you fit claims to create a non intimidating environment, but yet they allow a piece of shit scumbag like this guy to parade around this gym like he is Hercules. I personally know I could beat the shit out of this piece of crap, but then again why should I have to.

  27. MARTIAN MUSIC LLC (@MARTIANMUSICLLC) Says:

NOTUrbizz u can eat a dick u prick

  28. Anonymous Says:

Everyone is hating on the company for attempting to not “stylize” the gym atmosphere. Put on a sleeved shirt, get your sweat on, and stop wasting your energy arguing. If they won’t “allow” you to wear what you want to wear to the gym – GO FIND SOMEPLACE THAT WILL!! Adapt and overcome!

  29. Sharon Says:

My husband had been going to PF for 3 years when an employee told him he was not allowed to wear jean SHORTS. They were completely devoid of any rivets. Cargo shorts……made of denim MATERIAL. For a “Judgement free zone” they certainly have a lot to say about dress code, which is, by the way, very vague. Needless to say, he was embarrassed and is now at another gym.

  30. Dennis Says:

    Happy they have that policy!!

  31. Dave Hendershot Says:

if my woman where to wear a tank top she would get black and blue eyes and hounds wanting to hit on her so I agree
